Voith-Arena - Heidenheim an der Brenz
Holstein Kiel's 1-0 win against 1. FC Heidenheim earlier this season was their first-ever victory in the Bundesliga. Now the Storks are looking to do a league double over FCH for the first time since 2017/18 (in BL2 back then). That season also marks the only time that KSV have ever won in Heidenheim to date (otherwise D1, L6), with each of their last four visits there ending in defeat.
This fixture pits 17th place (Holstein Kiel) against last place (1. FC Heidenheim). The side sitting second-bottom of the Bundesliga table hasn't beaten an 18th-placed team on any of the last five occasions (D2, L3), a run which includes Kiel's 2-2 draw with VfL Bochum on matchday 21 of this season.
1. FC Heidenheim have just 16 points to their name after the first 25 matchdays of the season – only Mainz in 2023/24 (also 16) have ever managed to stay up after having collected as few points at this stage. All of the other 23 teams to have picked up a maximum of 16 points at this stage went on to be relegated.
1. FC Heidenheim are without a win in each of their last nine Bundesliga games, picking up just three of a possible 27 points in the process (D3, L6). FCH have won just one of their last 20 top-flight matches: 2-0 vs. Union Berlin (otherwise D4, L15).
Holstein Kiel have taken 17 points from their first 25 Bundesliga games this season. Of all sides to make their debut in the top flight since three points per win was introduced, only Greuther Fürth in 2012/13 have ever been worse off at this stage (14 points). However, the Storks are currently unbeaten in back-to-back games for the first time in the top flight (W1, D1).
