1. FC Köln are unbeaten in five Bundesliga matches against FC Augsburg (W3 D2), with both encounters in 2023-24 ending 1-1; however, Köln have won just one of their last nine Bundesliga home matches against FCA (D4 L4), a 3-2 victory in October 2022.

FC Augsburg ended a streak of four Bundesliga defeats with a 3-1 win against VfL Wolfsburg and celebrated their second win of the Bundesliga season after their 3-1 victory at SC Freiburg on Matchday 1. The last time FCA won two Bundesliga games in a row was in March (1-0 wins in Dortmund and against Wolfsburg).

1. FC Köln have won three of their first six matches of this Bundesliga season (D1 L2) – already more wins than in the entire first half of the 2023-24 Bundesliga season (W2 D5 L10). With 10 points after six games, Köln also had the best BL start for a newly promoted team since Hannover 96 in 2017-18 (12 points) and their best BL start since 2016-17 (12 points under Peter Stöger).

FC Augsburg have lost four of their last five Bundesliga away  games (W1), after previously not losing a single game in their first eight Bundesliga away games of 2025 (W5 D3). Now, FCA faces the threat of three consecutive Bundesliga away defeats for the first time in a year (even seven from April to October 2024).
