1899 Hoffenheim vs VfL Wolfsburg

TSG Hoffenheim and VfL Wolfsburg will meet for the second time this season after the Wolves won 3-0 (H) in the DFB-Pokal round of 16 at the beginning of December. In the Bundesliga, TSG have not won more home games against any club than against Wolfsburg (8, most recently 3-1 in September 2023).

TSG Hoffenheim (D3 L4) have not won any of their last seven competitive games, the last time the Kraichgauer side went winless for that long was at the turn of the year 2023-2024 (8). VfL Wolfsburg have lost twice in a row recently after five wins in a row, but VfL have never lost three in a row under Ralph Hasenhüttl (last three under predecessor Niko Kovac in March 2024).

With 14 points after 15 games, TSG Hoffenheim are playing their weakest Bundesliga season in nine years (2015-16 with just 10). In the previous seven years, the Sinsheim side only won the first Bundesliga game of the calendar year once (on January 8th, 2022 with 3-1 against Augsburg, plus D1 L5).

TSG Hoffenheim have been without a clean sheet in their last 28 Bundesliga home games, which is a negative club record and the second-longest home goals against streak in Bundesliga history after VfB Stuttgart's 31 home games from April 2021 to February 2023.

VfL Wolfsburg had to play the first Bundesliga game of the new calendar year away from home seven times in the last nine years and never won (D2 L5, winning both home games). VfL's last away win in the top flight in their first league game after the winter break came in 2008 at Arminia Bielefeld under Felix Magath (1-0).
