Angel City FC snapped a four-match losing streak against the Spirit with a 4—3 win at Washington on May 2. The team that won the first meeting of the season went on to complete the league double in each of Angel City’s first three NWSL seasons (Angel City in 2022, Washington in 2023 and 2024).
Angel City FC has won its last two regular-season home matches, recording victories over Orlando Pride and Bay FC. This is the third time Angel City has recorded two straight home league wins (also in 2022 and 2023), though its never won three straight at home before.
Washington has collected 21 points in its first 10 away matches of the season (W6 D3 L1), the fifth most after 10 road matches of a season in NWSL history. The Spirit have kept five clean sheets in those 10 away matches, including in three of the last four.
