Stade Raymond Kopa - Angers
Angers won their first match in all competitions since 10 May 2024 and a 2-1 win at Annecy. This is the first time the SCO has scored more than three goals in a Ligue 1 match since a 4-1 win over Bordeaux in May 2022.
Angers have taken five points from their last three Ligue 1 matches (W1 D2), having taken just two from their first six this season (D2). SCO are now unbeaten in their last three L1 matches, their longest such run in a single season in the top flight since November 2021 (3).
St Etienne has seven points or less after their first nine matches of a Ligue 1 season for the third time in the 21st century (4 points in 2021/22, 7 in 2004/05), as many occurrences as in the last century (4 points in 1988/89, 5 in 1983/84 and 6 in 1952/53, counting 3 points for a win).
Angers have an 18%-win rate against St Etienne in their history in all competitions (12/67 – D22 L33), only recording a lower percentage against Paris SG (9%) among current Ligue 1 clubs.
Angers have won only one of their last 13 home games against St Etienne in all competitions (D5 L7), winning in September 2019 in Ligue 1 (4-1).
The only team without a win in Ligue 1 in 2024-25 (D4 L4), Angers remain without a win after eight games of a season in the top-flight for the fourth time after 1959-60, 1963-64 and 1965-66. The SCO avoided relegation during these three seasons, winning in their ninth game in two of those seasons.
St Etienne have only seven points after eight games in Ligue 1 in 2024-25, their second lowest tally at this stage in the 21st century behind 2021-22 (3 – 18th and relegated at the end of the season). The Greens also had seven points in 2004-05 but finished sixth (qualified for the Intertoto Cup).
Angers have already lost more home games in 2024-25 (3 – D1) than in the whole of the 2023-24 season (W13 D4 L2 – including one against St Etienne).
