Arsenal vs PSV Eindhoven

Arsenal vs PSV is just the second time an English side has scored at least nine goals across two legs of a UEFA Champions League knockout tie after Manchester City vs FC Schalke in March 2019 (10-2).

Only against Standard Liège in the round of 16 of the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1993-94 have Arsenal scored more in a two-legged tie in their history (10-0) than their nine against PSV in their round of 16 tie.

PSV have been eliminated from the UEFA Champions League four of the last five times they’ve reached the round of 16, while they’re winless in each of their last 11 away games in the competition against English sides (D4 L7).  

Arsenal’s 7-1 victory in the first leg against PSV was the biggest ever away win in the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League. The only English team to score 10 goals across two legs in the competition was Man City vs Schalke 04 in 2018-19’s last 16 (won 10-2 on aggregate).

PSV are winless in their last six away major European games in England (D2 L4), with their last two visits defeats to Arsenal. They’ve won four of 20 away games (D4 L12), beating Leeds twice (5-3 in 1995, 1-0 in 2002), Newcastle (2-0 in 1997) and Spurs (1-0 in 2008).

Arsenal have won their last five UEFA Champions League matches, scoring 20 goals and conceding three. They are looking to win six in a row for the first time since between March and November 2005 under Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal have won each of their four UEFA Champions League games home games this season, without conceding a goal. The last English side to win five in a row at home without conceding in the competition was Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea in 2021-22 (5), who were then reigning champions.

PSV haven’t kept a clean sheet away from home in the UEFA Champions League since March 2016 (0-0 v Atlético Madrid), conceding in each of their last 15 away games in the competition (33 conceded in total – 2.2 per game).
