Atalanta vs Pisa

Gianluca Scamacca has scored in seven of his last eight Serie A starts, including his most recent goal in the competition (against Torino on May 26, 2024, 455 days ago); the Atalanta striker has found the net in his season debut in the competition for the first time in his career.

Isak Hien's own goal is the first goal conceded by Atalanta on MD1 of a Serie A season since Andrea Belotti's goal for Torino on August 21, 2021.

Pisa benefited from an own goal in a Serie A match for the first time since October 28, 1990 (on that occasion, an own goal by Ivo Pulga while playing for Cagliari).

Atalanta will play on the opening matchday of a Serie A season without Gian Piero Gasperini as manager for the first time since August 23rd 2015, under Edoardo Reja (a 0-1 away defeat against Inter in that case). Furthermore, the Bergamaschi will begin a top-flight season under a foreign coach for the first time since 1951/52 (Denis Charles Neville, against Lucchese).

Pisa will play a Serie A match for the first time in 34 years and 90 days, since their last game in the competition on May 26th, 1991, against Roma at the Arena Garibaldi (1-0 for the Giallorossi). The Toscani have only won one of their seven MD1 games in a league campaign (D1 L5), with that one win coming in their last season played in the top-flight (1-0 on the road against Bologna on September 9th, 1990).

Atalanta have won each of their last seven opening matches of a league season by an aggregate score of 21-5, keeping a clean sheet in each of their last three. Only two teams have won more successive such games in Serie A history: Fiorentina between 1966 and 1974 (nine) and AC Milan between 1987 and 1996 (10).

This will be the first time Atalanta and Pisa will face on MD1 of a league campaign. Overall, they have met eight time so far, with the Bergamaschi winning each of their last four games by an aggregate score of 5-0, after failing to win in each of their first four (D2 L2).

Pisa could become the first team against whom Atalanta win at least five Serie A matches in a row, while keeping a clean sheet in each of those (currently four as against Venezia between 1967 and 2021 - a streak closed in 2022).
