Bologna vs Shakhtar Donetsk

Shakhtar Donetsk lost their first four away games against Italian opponents in the UEFA Champions League (between 2000 and 2007), but have only lost on three of their seven such trips since then (W2 D2), registering wins at Roma in 2011 (3-2) and Atalanta in 2019 (2-1).

Bologna will appear in the European Cup/UEFA Champions League for the first time in just under 60 years, with their previous such game coming on 14th October 1964. Indeed, this is the longest gap between appearances of any side in this season’s tournament.

This will be Shakhtar Donetsk’s 19th appearance in the UEFA Champions League – since the 2000/01 campaign, only six sides have appeared in the competition on more occasions (including 2024/25).
