Insights / Pre Match

Borussia Dortmund have beaten Eintracht Frankfurt more often in the Bundesliga than they have any other club (50 times). In the six meetings since the start of 2021/22, BVB have claimed 16 of a possible 18 points, only failing to win in a 3-3 draw in Frankfurt last season. It’s Dortmund’s best return against any side during this period, and Frankfurt’s worst.

Borussia Dortmund have won each of their last nine games on the opening matchday, an ongoing Bundesliga record. They last failed to win on matchday 1 in 2014/15 at Bayer 04 Leverkusen (2-0 defeat).

Borussia Dortmund ended last season in fifth place, marking the first time since Jürgen Klopp’s departure that they have finished outside the top four. However, since the introduction of three points for a win, no fifth-place side has claimed more points than BVB did (63, same as Leverkusen in 2019/20). During this same period, no team has finished sixth with as few points as Eintracht Frankfurt last season (47, same as Nürnberg in 2010/11).

Eintracht Frankfurt only won one of their final nine Bundesliga games last season (D4, L4), collecting just seven points in the process. Only relegated Darmstadt 98 picked up fewer points across the final nine matchdays of 2023/24 (4 – Augsburg and Gladbach also 7).

Only FC Bayern (22) and Bayer 04 Leverkusen (26) scored more goals from set pieces than Borussia Dortmund (20) last season. Eintracht Frankfurt, meanwhile, netted just six goals from dead balls, a league low and a negative club record in a top-flight season (since detailed data collection began in 2004/05).
