Borussia Dortmund have lost six of their last seven competitive games against RB Leipzig, with their only win in that timeframe coming at home in the Bundesliga in 2022/23 (2-1). BVB had previously gone on an eight-match unbeaten run against RBL in all competitions (W6, D2).
This will be the 10th Bundesliga clash between Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig on a Saturday evening – the last three have all ended in victory for RBL, who have won five of them in total (D1, L3). Leipzig’s last top-flight defeat came during this primetime slot in an away match, losing 2-1 at FC Bayern in late February.
With 13 points after eight games, this is Borussia Dortmund’s worst start to a Bundesliga season in 10 years, having had just seven points at this stage in 2014/15. BVB’s tally of 14 goals conceded after eight matchdays has only been worse this century in 2007/08 (16).
RB Leipzig have collected 20 points from their opening eight Bundesliga games, setting a new club record. Their run of 19 top-flight matches without defeat (W13, D6) is also a historic best for RBL, as well as the longest ongoing unbeaten streak in the league. They have now won four Bundesliga games in a row, a run they have only bettered once before under Marco Rose (5 games in April/May 2023).
Borussia Dortmund have won each of their last eight home games in all competitions, their longest run since between November 2022 and May 2023 (11). BVB are the only team yet to drop a point at home in the Bundesliga this season (4 home wins) and have collected 12 of their 13 points in Dortmund – the discrepancy between home and away points isn’t as big for any other team in the league.
