Brentford have recovered from being 2+ goals down to win a Premier League match for the very first time, having drawn two and lost 29 of the previous 31 games in which they found themselves down by at least two goals – it was Ipswich’s second loss after being 2+ goals ahead, with their only previous one also having come in London (2-3 v Charlton in January 2002).

There have now been five occasions of a team winning a Premier League match having been 2+ goals down this season – only in 2022-23 (6) have their been more such victories in a single campaign.

Ipswich’s Harry Clarke became just the second player in Premier League history to score an own goal, concede a penalty and be sent off in the same match after Jan Bednarek with Southampton against Manchester United in February 2021.

Brentford have lost just one of their last nine league games against Ipswich (W4 D4), with the first meeting between the sides since a 2-0 home win for the Bees in April 2019.

Ipswich have lost their last three away league games against Brentford without scoring a single goal, while they’ve only won one of their seven such visits in their league history (4-2 in December 2014).

This is the first ever top-flight meeting between Brentford and Ipswich Town. It will be the 1,452nd fixture to be played in England’s top-flight, and the 937th in the Premier League.

Only Wolves’ Premier League games have seen more goals (33) than Brentford’s this season (14 goals scored, 15 conceded), while no stadium has seen more goals than the Gtech Community Stadium (17).

Ipswich Town remain winless in the Premier League this season (D4 L4). In only two previous league campaigns have they endured longer winless starts, both in the Championship in 2009-10 (14) and 2018-19 (11).
