Bristol City vs Wolves

Wolves have won six of their last seven FA Cup games against teams from lower divisions (L1), after winning just one of their previous eight before that (D4 L3).

Bristol City have failed to progress from the third round of the FA Cup for the first time in three seasons, preventing the Robins from advancing at this stage of the competition in three successive campaigns for the first time since 1982 (run of four).

Rayan Aït-Nouri has scored in both of his last two appearances for Wolves in the FA Cup (two goals) – this after failing to score in each of his first nine matches in the competition.

Wolves have won both of their previous FA Cup meetings with Bristol City, winning 1-0 in February 1973 (fourth round) and 1-0 again in February 2019 (fifth round).

Bristol City have lost their last two home games against Wolves in all competitions, last losing more consecutively at home against them between 1929 and 1965 (4).

Bristol City have progressed from four of their last six FA Cup third round ties, winning both such ties against Premier League opponents in that time (2018-19 v Huddersfield, last season v West Ham).

This will be just the second time in the last 10 seasons than Wolves’ FA Cup third round tie has come against a team from outside the Premier League, beating Sheffield United 3-0 in 2021-22 in the other.

Wolves were eliminated by Championship side Coventry City in the FA Cup quarter-final last season – they’ve not gone out of the competition to a team from a lower division in consecutive campaigns since 2011-12 (vs Birmingham City) and 2012-13 (vs Luton Town).
