Chelsea vs Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace have now failed to win any of their last 14 Premier League matches against Chelsea (D1 L13), their longest ongoing winless streak against a current Premier League outfit. Today’s draw saw them pick up their first point against the Blues in the competition since October 2017, however.

This is only the third draw in this fixture in the Premier League in what was the 31st meeting between Chelsea and Crystal Palace (Chelsea W24, Crystal Palace W4), and the first draw since March 1995 – a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge.

Crystal Palace's Eberechi Eze has scored five Premier League goals from outside the box in 2024, the joint-most of any player along with Manchester City’s Phil Foden. All of Eze’s last three goals in the competition have been from outside the box.

Chelsea have won each of their last 13 Premier League games against Crystal Palace. Only Manchester City (a current run of 14 against Bournemouth) have ever had a longer winning run against an opponent in English Football League history.

Crystal Palace have lost 80% of their 30 Premier League meetings with Chelsea (W4 D2 L24), the highest loss rate of any side to face another at least 30 times in the competition. Each of their four wins against the Blues have come under a different manager (Tony Pulis, Alan Pardew, Sam Allardyce, Roy Hodgson).

All three of Crystal Palace’s Premier League games this season have been London derbies (Brentford, West Ham United, Chelsea). This is only the fifth occasion in English top-flight history of a London club facing London opponents in each of their first three matches of a campaign, after West Ham in 1970-71, Wimbledon in 1991-92, Palace themselves in 2021-22, and Brentford in 2023-24.

Chelsea lost 2-0 against Manchester City in their opening league game of the season at Stamford Bridge – they’ve not lost their first two at home in a single campaign since 1978-79.

Having only lost three of their 13 Premier League games under Oliver Glasner last season (W7 D3), Crystal Palace have lost both such matches in 2024-25. Only in 2017-18 have the Eagles ever lost their first three matches of a top-flight campaign (first 7).
