At 94 minutes and 23 seconds, Albania’s Klaus Gjasula’s goal to make it 2-2 was the latest equalising goal scored in UEFA European Championship history (excluding extra time).

Albania’s Klaus Gjasula became just the second player to score a goal and an own goal in a match at the UEFA European Championship, after Czechoslovakia’s Anton Ondrus against Netherlands in 1976.

Turning 33 years old today, Croatia’s Andrej Kramaric became the third player to score on his birthday at the UEFA European Championship, after Jean-Francois Domergue in 1984 and Wesley Sneijder in 2008.

This will be the first ever encounter between Croatia and Albania in any competition. Albania have won just one of their last 10 matches when facing a nation for the very first time (D5 L4), beating Faroe Islands 3-1 in June 2023.

Croatia began their EURO 2024 campaign with a 0-3 defeat against Spain, although they haven’t lost consecutive games at the same major tournament since EURO 1996 (0-3 v Portugal and 1-2 v Germany).

Albania have lost three of their four matches at the UEFA European Championships (W1), however they’ve already scored as many goals (1) at EURO 2024 as they managed in their only previous appearance in the competition in 2016 (one in three games).

Croatia have lost three of their last five competitive matches (W2), going down against Türkiye (0-1), Wales (1-2) and Spain (0-3) in this run. This is as many defeats as they had suffered across their previous 29 games in competitive action combined (W16 D10).

Albania’s loss against Italy last time out was their first competitive defeat since March 2023 (0-1 v Poland), ending a seven-game unbeaten run in such fixtures (W4 D3). They haven’t lost back-to-back games in competitive action since September 2022, in consecutive UEFA Nations League defeats against Israel.
