Eintracht Frankfurt are without a win in their last four meetings with VfL Bochum (D3, L1; all BL) – the last three clashes have ended 1-1. Of the current top-flight sides, Frankfurt have only been waiting longer for a Bundesliga win against Borussia Dortmund (7 games) than versus Bochum (4, same as against Leverkusen).
Only VfL Wolfsburg (39%) have had less possession than Eintracht Frankfurt and VfL Bochum in the Bundesliga this season (both 41%). Bochum also have the worst pass accuracy in the league (74%), as well as the fewest 10+ pass sequences (34).
While Eintracht Frankfurt have allowed the most opposition shots in the Bundesliga this season (148, an average of 18.5 per game), VfL Bochum have the league’s highest Expected Goals Against value (20.5). VfL haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their last 24 Bundesliga matches, and will equal a negative club record if they fail to stop Frankfurt from scoring (set between 2002 and 2003).
With just one point from eight games, VfL Bochum have had joint worst start to a Bundesliga season, equalling VfL themselves in 2022/23, Fürth in 2021/22, Paderborn in 2019/20, Köln in 2017/18 and Saarbrücken in 1963/64. Of these sides, only Bochum avoided relegation at the end of the campaign.
VfL Bochum are winless after eight Bundesliga matchdays for the third season in a row, a first for any side in top-flight history. Their maiden victory came on matchday 9 in 2022/23, a 3-0 home win over upcoming opponents Eintracht Frankfurt.
