FC Bayern Munich won 10 of their 14 Bundesliga away games against FC Augsburg (D1 3 L) – against no other club that the Munich team has played at least 10 times do they have such a high win rate away from home in the Bundesliga as against FCA (71%).
For the first time in five years, FC Augsburg started a Bundesliga season with a win, beating Freiburg 3-1 – 2020/21 was also the only BL season in which FCA started the season with two wins. FC Bayern Munich opened with a 6-0 victory against RB Leipzig – only Bayern had started the 2020/21 season with a bigger opening victory (8-0 against FC Schalke 04).
FC Augsburg will play their first ‘top Bundesliga match’ on a Saturday evening in over 10 years – in mid-April 2015, the FCA won 2-1 at home against VfB Stuttgart. Since then, the Fuggerstadt club has played 346 matches without a top match – no other club has had to wait so long between two top matches since its introduction in 2011.
Since a 1-2 draw at FSV Mainz in December 2024, FC Bayern have not lost any of their last nine Bundesliga away games (W6 D3), the longest unbeaten streak for Munich since the 2019/20 season under Hansi Flick (10). FC Augsburg have picked up just one point in their last four Bundesliga home games (D1 L3) and could now lose three consecutive Bundesliga home games for the first time in three years.
On the first matchday of this Bundesliga season, only Union Berlin played fewer passes (198) than FC Augsburg (299) – while FC Bayern Munich played the most passes in the league (656).
