FC Augsburg have only won one of their last 10 Bundesliga games against Eintracht Frankfurt: 2-1 in December 2023, their last home fixture against the Eagles (otherwise D4, L5). FCA now have the chance to win consecutive home games against Eintracht for just the second time (previously from 2013 to 2014).
FC Augsburg have claimed 23 points in the second half of the season, the third most behind FC Bayern München (27) and Bayer 04 Leverkusen (25). FCA have already picked up four more points than they managed in the first half of 2024/25 (19), while 23 points and just seven goals conceded marks a new club record after 12 games in the second half of a top-flight campaign.
42 points from 29 games is FC Augsburg’s joint-best record at this stage of a Bundesliga season, having also been on the same number of points in 2013/14 and 2014/15. They have only finished a top-flight campaign with more points than they currently have in 2013/14 (52) and 2014/15 (49).
Dino Toppmöller’s Eintracht Frankfurt are in third place after 29 matchdays – they were most recently in the top three this late on in a Bundesliga season in 1993/94 under his father Klaus Toppmöller (2nd, eventually finished 5th). The Eagles are currently five points clear of fifth place – since three points for a win was introduced, only VfB Stuttgart in 2004/05 have ever blown such a substantial lead (5 points after 32 games).
Eintracht Frankfurt’s win over Heidenheim last time out was their 15th in the Bundesliga this season, a joint club record after 29 top-flight matchdays. Since 2000, the Eagles have only also won 15 of their first 29 games in 2018/19. SGE have won three of their last four Bundesliga matches (L1) – since the start of matchday 26, only Bayer 04 Leverkusen have collected more points (10) than Eintracht (9).
