SC Freiburg have won seven of their last eight Bundesliga meetings with FC Augsburg, scoring 20 goals, conceding just five, and recording four clean sheets in the process. However, the one defeat came in their most recent trip to Augsburg (2-1). Freiburg have scored at least one goal in each of their last 18 top-flight clashes with FCA, their longest goalscoring run against any current Bundesliga side.
With 31 points after 23 games, this is FC Augsburg’s best Bundesliga campaign in seven years – they also had 31 at this stage in 2017/18. Both Augsburg and SC Freiburg have picked up 12 points in the second half of the season (same as Bayer Leverkusen) – only FC Bayern have more (16), while it’s a club record for FCA after six matchdays in the second half of a top-flight campaign.
With 39 points after 23 games, this is SC Freiburg’s third-best Bundesliga season – they’ve only been better off at this stage in 2022/23 (42 points) and in 1994/95 (43 – using 3 points per win).
Only Bayer 04 Leverkusen (21 games) and FC Bayern (9) are currently on longer unbeaten runs in the Bundesliga than FC Augsburg (7). An eighth straight game without defeat would equal a club record for FCA, set in 2013/14 under Markus Weinzierl.
SC Freiburg have won each of their last four Bundesliga games, as many wins as in their previous 13 league matches combined. A fifth straight victory would equal their club record, last achieved at the turn of the year in 2020/21.
