VfL Bochum are unbeaten in all three of their Bundesliga away matches against FC Augsburg (W2, D1) – their points per game average in Augsburg (2.3) is better than away at any other current top-flight team. Meanwhile, FCA’s points average at home against Bochum (0.3) is worse than against any other Bundesliga team they have faced in at least as many home games.
FC Augsburg have lost just one of their last 11 Bundesliga games against a side sitting bottom (W5, D5), a 1-0 away defeat to FC Schalke 04 in April 2021. In fact, FCA haven’t been beaten in any of their eight top-flight home games against a last-placed team (W5, D3).
With just two points and a -22 goal difference after 11 games, this is the second worst season by any team in Bundesliga history, with only Greuther Fürth’s record at this stage in 2021/22 worse (1 point, -21 GD). No side to have had a maximum of two points after 11 games has ever managed to avoid relegation. VfL are also the only team in Europe’s top five leagues to still be without a win.
Including last season, VfL Bochum are now winless in 13 Bundesliga games for the first time since they returned to the top flight in 2021 (D2, L11) – they have only suffered a worse run once before, going 15 consecutive Bundesliga games without a victory in 1992/93.
FC Augsburg have collected 11 of their 12 points this season in home games (92%) – only Borussia Dortmund (95%; 18 of 19) and VfL Bochum (100%; 2 of 2) have won a bigger share of their points at home. Meanwhile, Bochum are the only side yet to pick up a single Bundesliga point away from home.
