FC St. Pauli vs Borussia Dortmund

FC St. Pauli and Borussia Dortmund will meet for the 19th time in the Bundesliga, with BVB winning 11 of their last 12 BL encounters and remaining undefeated (1 draw) – BVB has a longer active unbeaten streak against no other current Bundesliga club. Only against Energie Cottbus in the top flight have BVB collected more points per game (2.4) than against FCSP (2.3, at least 10 encounters).

FC St. Pauli is entering its second consecutive Bundesliga season—the last time the Kiezkickers achieved this feat was in 1995/96 and 1996/97. On the first matchday of last season, they lost 0-2 at home to 1. FC Heidenheim—the Kiezkickers have never started two consecutive Bundesliga seasons with a defeat.

Borussia Dortmund has consistently started the new Bundesliga season with a win for the past 10 years – no other team in Bundesliga history has won more than seven consecutive opening matches (FC Bayern Munich, 2012-2018). Away from home, BVB has won its last three consecutive opening games, scoring at least three times in each of them.

Borussia Dortmund collected 57 points in the Bundesliga last season, their fewest  since 2017/18, when they finished with 55 points. With 71 goals, they had the third-best attack behind FC Bayern Munich (99) and Bayer Leverkusen (72), and will face FC St. Pauli, who had the second-best defence in the previous season (41 goals, Bayern: 32).

Borussia Dortmund picked up 22 of their 24 possible points (W7, D1) in the last eight matchdays of the Bundesliga season – a league-best total. Most recently, BVB won five consecutive Bundesliga matches (BVB's longest winning streak since autumn 2023), scoring at least three times in each of them – a run of six consecutive Bundesliga wins with at least three goals would equal the club's record from 2015 (6).
