FC St. Pauli vs FC Augsburg

FC St. Pauli have lost all four competitive games away at FC Augsburg in professional football (including 3-1 in the first half of this season, the clubs’ maiden Bundesliga meeting), but are unbeaten at home against the Fuggerstädter. They recorded two wins and a draw at the Millerntor against FCA in the second division.

FC St. Pauli are top of a table representing the second half of the season with FC Augsburg in second – the only other side that won both games on matchdays 18 and 19 was FC Bayern. It was the first time in their Bundesliga history that St. Pauli won their first two matches in the second half of a campaign, while FCA managed it for the first time since 2016/17 – they have never won each of their first three in the top flight.

FC St. Pauli have recorded back-to-back wins in the Bundesliga for the first time this season, keeping a clean sheet on both occasions – it’s the first time in their top-flight history that they have won two consecutive games without conceding a goal, while they are the only team to have not conceded a goal in the second half of the season. FC Augsburg have won three straight Bundesliga games for the first time since February/March 2024 (4 back then). With 25 points from the first 19 matchdays, this is FCA’s best season since 2017/18 (27).

FC St. Pauli kept their seventh clean sheet of the season against Union Berlin last time out – only RB Leipzig (8) and FC Bayern München (9) have managed more. The last promoted side to keep as many clean sheets from the opening 19 matchdays was FC Ingolstadt 04 in 2015/16 (also 7). Overall, only Bayern (16) have conceded fewer goals than the Kiezkicker (21), who have the best defensive record for a promoted side since 2016/17 (RB Leipzig: 17).
