FCSB vs Manchester United

Manchester United have progressed from the group stage in seven of their last nine European campaigns (UEFA Europa League and Champions League), failing last season in the Champions League and in 2020-21 in the same competition.

Ruben Amorim became just the second Manchester United manager to win his first four major European matches in charge, after Alex Ferguson in 1990.

Kobbie Mainoo became the first player to score and assist a goal on his first major European start for Manchester United since Wayne Rooney in September 2004 against Fenerbahçe.

This is FCSB’s first ever meeting with Manchester United – they’ve lost each of their last seven games against English sides by an aggregate score of 20-2.

Manchester United have won five of their six meetings with Romanian sides in all competitions, though their last such match ended in a 1-0 home defeat to CFR Cluj in the 2012-13 UEFA Champions League.

FCSB have lost just three of their last 22 home group stage matches in the UEFA Europa League (W11 D8), and are unbeaten in all three this season (W2 D1).

Manchester United have not lost any of their last six away UEFA Europa League group stage matches (W4 D2) since losing 2-1 at Astana in November 2019.

Against Rangers last time out, Bruno Fernandes become just the second player to score 10+ goals in the UEFA Cup/Europa League for Manchester United, after Marcus Rashford (14).
