Fenerbahce vs Nice

Fenerbahçe and Nice have faced five times before in major European competition, last meeting in a 1973-74 UEFA Cup last 32 tie which the French side won 4-2 on aggregate.

Nice have won three of their five European meetings with Fenerbahce (L2), though lost both away from home – 2-1 in November 1959 and 2-0 in November 1973.

After their 3-1 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb on MD1, Fenerbahçe could lose both of their opening two matches of a campaign in major UEFA competition for the first time since 2001-02 in the UEFA Champions League.

Nice have lost each of their last 10 away UEFA Europa League games in succession since a 5-1 victory over SV Zulte Waregem in September 2017.

Sebastian Szymanski has three goals in Fenerbahçe’s last two games in major European competition; the only player to score in three successive such appearances for the club are Alex (February – September 2005) and Youssef En-Nesyri (twice last season).
