Inter have won two home games in a row against Fiorentina in Serie A for the first time since the period between 2016 and 2018 (a run of three).
Inter have attempted 22 shots tonight, the double amount than those recorded in the entire previous league match against Fiorentina (11).
Fiorentina have lost three of their last five away games in Serie A (W1 D1); in as many previous away matches, they had achieved four wins and a draw, without ever conceding a goal.
This will be the 174th match between Inter and Fiorentina in Serie A (72 victories for the Nerazzurri, 46 for the Viola and 55 draws), who will compete again just four days after their MD14 postponed match. Only once have the two clubs faced each other with a shorter gap between games in their history, considering all competitions: just three days between 10 and 13 April 2010 (2-2 draw in the league in the first match, followed by the 1-0 Inter away success in the Coppa Italia).
The 2nd leg match between Inter and Fiorentina in Serie A will be played just four days after the 1st leg; only once in the history of the tournament have two teams faced each other with a shorter gap between games in the same season: three days between the matches between Liguria and Roma in 1942/43 (18-21 February 1943).
After Thursday's 3-0 success in Florence, Fiorentina could win both seasonal league games against Inter for the 1st time since 2015/16 (4-1 at the Meazza and 2-1 at the Franchi in that case), while they could win both seasonal matches without conceding a goal for only the second time in their history, after 2014/15 (3-0 at home in the 1st leg and 1-0 away in the 2nd leg).
Inter have not lost two matches in a row in Serie A since April 2023: a series of three in that case, against Spezia, Juventus and Fiorentina (1-0 for Viola at the Meazza on the 1st of April, with a goal scored by Giacomo Bonaventura).
Since the start of last season, Inter have lost only two of the 30 home games played in Serie A (W21, D7): among the teams that have played at least as many games in front of their fans in the major five European leagues, only Juventus (one) has recorded fewer home defeats than the Nerazzurri in this period.
