Ipswich Town won their first Premier League game against Chelsea since August 1993, extending their run of six home meetings against the Blues without ever losing in the competition (W2 D4).

Chelsea lost their final league game of a calendar year for the first time since New Year’s Eve 2011 (3-1 against Aston Villa), while they’ve lost consecutive Premier League games for the first time since February.

Liam Delap both scored and assisted in a Premier League game for the second time this season, becoming the second Ipswich Town player to do so more than once in a single season after Finidi George in 2001-02 (also twice).

Ipswich have won just one of their last 14 league games against Chelsea (D6 L7) and are winless in seven against the Blues since a 1-0 home win in August 1993.

Chelsea have played more Premier League away games without ever winning against Ipswich than they have vs any other opponent, though four of their five visits to Portman Road have finished level (L1).

Ipswich are unbeaten in their final league game in each of the last four calendar years (W2 D2). They’ve won their last two such games in the Premier League, beating Spurs 3-0 in 2000 and Sunderland 5-0 in 2001.

Chelsea are unbeaten in their final league game in each of the last 12 calendar years (W8 D4) since a 3-1 home loss to Aston Villa on New Year’s Eve 2011.

Chelsea are unbeaten on all five occasions when they’ve faced a promoted side in their final Premier League game of a calendar year (W4 D1), though the only time they failed to win was a 2-2 draw at Ipswich in 2000. This is the third consecutive year they’ve finished with such a match (2-0 v Bournemouth in 2022, 3-2 v Luton last year).
