Lyon vs Ludogorets

This is Lyon’s first ever game against Bulgarian opposition, the 32nd different nation they’ve faced an opponent from in all European competition.

Ludogorets’ only previous meetings with French opposition came in the 2016-17 UEFA Champions League, losing 3-1 at home and drawing 2-2 away to PSG in the group stages.

Lyon have won 11 of their 15 home group stage matches in the UEFA Europa League (D3 L1), conceding just eight goals. However, three of those goals have been in their last two on home soil against Besiktas (lost 1-0) and Eintracht Frankfurt (won 3-2).

Ludogorets have failed to score in any of their last four away matches in major European competition (D3 L1), with three of those games ending goalless.

Only Dries Mertens has more assists (5) and chances created (36) than Rayan Cherki (4 assists, 25 chances created) in the UEFA Europa League this season. Indeed, it’s the most chances created by a Lyon player in a single season in major European competition since Memphis Depay in 2018-19 (26).
