Lyon vs Metz

Lyon won its first two matches of a Ligue 1 season for the second time in the last six seasons, having already done so in the 2022-23 season under Peter Bosz. However, this is the first time in three seasons (2 with Lille, 1 with OL) that Paulo Fonseca has achieved this feat in the top flight.

Lyon have won only one of their last five games against Metz in Ligue 1 (D2 L2), but that was their most recent, a 2-1 victory in Lorraine on 23 February 2024. Before this run, OL had won 13 of their 14 top-flight matches against the Grenats, keeping 11 clean sheets (D1).

Lyon have not won any of their last three home games against Metz in Ligue 1 (D2 L1), but have never failed to win four consecutive games against this opponent.

After their 2-0 win over Angers in MD34 last season and their 1-0 win against Lens in MD1 2025-26, Lyon have won consecutive games without conceding a goal in Ligue 1 and could string together three such matches for the first time since December 2023 (3).

Each of Metz's last seven league results (excluding the playoffs) has been different from the previous one (W2 D3 L2). FCM are coming off a defeat in MD1 (0-1 v Strasbourg) but have not suffered consecutive league defeats since their last four matches of the 2023-24 Ligue 1 season.

Lyon have lost each of their last two opening home games of a Ligue 1 season, as many as in their previous 30 (W21 D7).
