Metz vs Strasbourg

Strasbourg have become the first team in the history of Top 5 European leagues to have 11 starters born in 2000 or later. With an average age of 20 years and 288 days, they broke the Ligue 1 record for the youngest starting lineup since Opta began collecting data (1947-48), set by themselves on 25 January 2025 against Lille (21 years and 171 days).

At the age of 16 years and 217 days, Brian Madjo became the youngest player for Metz to start a Ligue 1 game since Opta began collecting data (1947-48), breaking the record set by Bernard Zénier in August 1974 against Lyon (16 years and 360 days). He is also the first player born in 2009 to start a match in Top 5 European leagues.

Metz have lost their last six Ligue 1 games against Strasbourg, their longest losing streak against RCSA in their history. Only Paris SG (14) and Rennes (7) currently have a higher tally of consecutive wins against Metz.

Strasbourg are the team that Metz has beaten most often in their history in Ligue 1 (W42 D31 L29), FCM nevertheless remain on five defeats against the RCSA in the top-flight.

Strasbourg have won eight of their last 12 matches against promoted side in Ligue 1 (D1 L3), having won just five of the top 23 since returning to the top-flight in 2017 (D6 L12).

Metz will start an 11th Ligue 1 season as a promoted side, equalling the highest total for a team set by Strasbourg. FCM have suffered six relegations in their last nine appearances in the top-flight, one more than in their first 55.

Metz remained goalless only once in their last 19 competitive matches (43 goals scored), it was against Ajaccio on February 22 (0-1).

Strasbourg – who are in the Conference League play-offs this summer – had not won any of their three Ligue 1 matches prior to the games of their previous European campaign (qualifying for the 2019-20 Europa League), two draws (including one at home against Metz) and one defeat.
