Stade de la Mosson-Mondial 98 - Montpellier
Montpellier have won only twice in their last 11 meetings against Reims in Ligue 1 (D4 L5), after winning six of the previous eight (D1 L1). MHSC have also not won any of their last five home games against SdR in L1 (2D L3), only on a longer current drought against Lille in the top-flight (6).
In the event of a defeat against Reims, or if St Etienne or Le Havre don’t lose, Montpellier will be officially relegated to Ligue 2 for the fourth time in its history after 1981-82, 1999-2000 and 2003-04. MHSC have not played in L2 since 2008-09, when they finished second behind Lens.
With 15 points after 30 games in Ligue 1 2024-25, Montpellier are already assured of recording their lowest record in a campaign in the top-flight (29 in 1981-82, counting 3 points for a win). MHSC have lost 23 times in Ligue 1 this season (W4 D3), their joint-highest total in the top-flight (as in 1981-82 and 2003-04).
Reims have won each of their last two Ligue 1 games, as many as in the previous 21 (D6 L13), having not won three games n a row since February-March 2023 (3). The SdR could also record their 600th victory in the top-flight (D363 L484), becoming the 16th team to reach this total.
Montpellier have lost each of their last five home games in Ligue 1, having never suffered more home defeats in their history in the top-flight. MHSC could also fail to score in four consecutive matches in Ligue 1 for only the second time, after February-March 2004 (4).
