Newcastle vs Bromley

Newcastle have won eight consecutive games in all competitions as a Premier League side for the first time since February/March 2005 under Graeme Souness.

Bromley have been eliminated from all 17 of their ties in the FA Cup proper against Football League/Premier League clubs.

Bromley’s Cameron Congreve was the first player aged under 21 to score for a League Two club away to a Premier League side in the FA Cup since both Sam Surridge and Callum Lang for Oldham at Fulham in 2018-19.

This is the first ever meeting between Newcastle and Bromley. The Magpies beat AFC Wimbledon in their first meeting earlier this season in the League Cup, with this the first campaign they’ve faced two different English clubs for the first time since 1978-79 (Cambridge United and Torquay United).

This will be Bromley’s first ever FA Cup third round tie, and also their first ever competitive meeting with a top-flight opponent.

Newcastle have lost just one of their last 16 FA Cup matches against fourth tier (or lower) opponents, going down 3-1 at Stevenage in the third round in 2010-11.

Bromley have won both of their FA Cup games so far this season, having been winless in their previous 23 matches in the competition proper beforehand (D4 L19).

With two goals and two assists so far, no player has been involved in more FA Cup goals this season than Bromley’s Corey Whitely (first round onwards).
