Paris Saint Germain vs Montpellier

Paris have won each of their first two games of a Ligue 1 season for the third time in four seasons, only failing to do so, over the period, last year with two draws for Luis Enrique's takeover.

Paris are unbeaten in August in Ligue 1 since 2019 and a 2-1 defeat at Rennes. Over the last 10 seasons (since 2015-16), Paris have won 84% of their top-flight fixtures played during this month (27/32 – D3 L2), bettering only November (89% - 25/28).

Montpellier lost away from home in Ligue 1 for the first time since last February (4-1 at Marseille). MHSC had gone six consecutive away games in the top-flight without losing (W4 D2), second longest current run in the top-flight behind Paris (25).

Paris SG have won 12 of their last 13 matches against Montpellier in Ligue 1 (2-3 defeat in April 2019), as many as in the previous 36 meetings (D15 L9). Among current Ligue 1 teams, PSG are only on a longer winning run (10 v Montpellier) against Angers (14).

The matches between Paris SG and Montpellier produced 11 goals in Ligue 1 last season (both Parisian wins, 3-0 at the Parc des Princes and 6-2 at La Mosson), the highest tally between current sides in the top-flight.

Paris SG have won each of their last three Ligue 1 games but are yet to win four in a row in the top-flight in 2024 (also 3 in February).

After their opening day draw against Strasbourg (1-1), Montpellier could avoid defeat in their first two matches of a Ligue 1 campaign for the second time in a row (W1 D1 in 2023-24) while this had never happened to them in the previous 11 seasons.

Paris SG have won only two of their eight home games in Ligue 1 in 2024 (D5 L1) having won each of their previous six.
