Insights / Post Match

Tonight was the first time Rangers have won a major European match by a 4+ goal margin since beating Hapoel Tel Aviv 4-0 in the UEFA Cup in February 2007, with tonight’s victory their biggest ever in the UEFA Europa League since it’s rebrand (2009/10).

FCSB have now lost each of their last eight matches against British opposition in Europe (inc. qualifiers) by a combined scoreline of 24-2, conceding 3+ goals in six of those eight matches.

Václav Cerny became only the second Rangers player to have a hand in 3+ goals in a single UEFA Europa League match (2 goals, 1 assist) and the first since Alfredo Morelos (v Royal Antwerp) in February 2021.

Insights / Pre Match

Rangers are unbeaten in three previous home meetings with FCSB in European competition (W2 D1), most recently drawing 1-1 at Ibrox in the 1995-96 UEFA Champions League group stage.

FCSB have only lost one of their last four games against Rangers in all competitions (W2 D1) while they have won their last two such meetings with Scottish sides, beating Motherwell twice in qualifying for the 2009-10 UEFA Europa League.

Including qualifiers, Rangers have lost their last three home European matches – they’ve never lost four in a row at Ibrox in their history.

FCSB have won both of their UEFA Europa League games so far this season. There have been four previous occasions they’ve won their first three in a major European campaign – the 1989-90 European Cup, the 1999-00 and 2005-06 UEFA Cup, and the 2017-18 UEFA Europa League.

Despite facing the sixth highest number of shots in the UEFA Europa League this season (38), FCSB have conceded just one goal so far.
