Sporting CP vs Bologna

Tommaso Pobega's opener against Sporting CP was Bologna's first ever away goal in the UEFA Champions League/European Cup and their first away goal in any major European match since Nicola Ventola netted against Galatasaray in the UEFA Cup in December 1999.

Conrad Harder (19y 297d) is Sporting CP's second-youngest goalscorer ever in the UEFA Champions League/European Cup and the youngest since Quim Silva netted against Partizan Belgrade in September 1955 aged 19 years and 99 days.

Tonight was Sporting CP’s 100th match in the European Cup/UEFA Champions League, becoming the third Portuguese club to play 100+ games in the competition after Benfica (273) and FC Porto (257).

Sporting CP and Bologna will meet in European competition for the first time since the 1998-99 UEFA Cup first round, when the Italian’s won 4-1 in on aggregate after winning both legs of that tie (2-0 away, 2-1 home).

Bologna are unbeaten in their last three games against Portuguese opposition in European competition (W2 D1), most recently drawing 0-0 with Benfica on MD6 on this season’s UEFA Champions League.

Only one of Sporting CP’s last 24 home matches in the UEFA Champions League has ended level (1-1 v Juventus in October 2017), with the Portuguese side only narrowly winning more games (12) than they have lost (11) in this run of fixtures.

Following their 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund last time out, Bologna will be aiming to win back-to-back games in major European competition for the first time since 1998-99 in the UEFA Cup (a run of five).

Bologna are winless away from home in the UEFA Champions League this season (D1 L2), while failing to score in all three matches. Indeed, they’ve not found the net with any of their 30 shots across those three, of which only seven have been on target (23%).
