Sturm Graz vs Club Brugge KV

Club Brugge have won all three of their UEFA Champions League games against Austrian sides, with both such away games being 1-0.

Sturm Graz have lost four consecutive UEFA Champions League games for the third time, also doing so in November 1998 and September 1999.

None of Sturm Graz’s 13 UEFA Champions League home games has finished in a draw (W6 L7), with the Austrian side now losing three of their last four on home soil.

This will be the first ever European meeting between Sturm Graz and Club Brugge; the Austrian club have lost their last three such games against Belgian opposition, all without scoring.

Club Brugge have won five of their last six European matches against Austrian opponents, losing the other 4-0 to FC Red Bull Salzburg in the 2018-19 UEFA Europa League.

Sturm Graz have now lost on MD1 of all four of their UEFA Champions League campaigns. They’ve also lost on MD2 in two of their previous three campaigns, winning the other 3-0 against Galatasaray in 2000-01.

Club Brugge won their opening two matches in their last UEFA Champions League season in 2022-23 but lost 3-0 to Borussia Dortmund on MD1 this season. They haven’t lost their first two games in a campaign since 2018-19 under Ivan Leko.

Six of Sturm Graz’s eight shots against Brest were from outside the box (75%), the highest percentage of any side on MD1 of this season’s UEFA Champions League. However, Graz have scored the most goals in Champions League history without scoring from outside the box (all 21 inside the box).
