Sturm Graz vs Rangers

Sturm Graz have won three consecutive major European home matches for the first time since October 2000 – their third win in that sequence was against Rangers.

Rangers have lost 37.5% of their matches in all competitions this season (6/16), their highest percentage in a season since 1985-86 when they lost 38.6% of games (17/44).

Rangers have now gone 22 away matches in all competitions without a clean sheet, equalling a club record that has stood since January 1897.

Sturm Graz have played Rangers twice before in European competition, winning one and losing one of their matches against the Scottish outfit in the first group stage of the 2000-01 UEFA Champions League.

Rangers have won five of their seven European games against Austrian sides (L2), though four of those victories came on home soil. 

Sturm Graz have won each of their last three home European outings, last enjoying a longer run on home soil between July and October 2000 (5 wins).

Rangers have lost just two of their last nine away games in major European competition (W4 D3), scoring 2+ goals in each of their victories in this period.

After their 1-0 defeat to Genk on MD1, Rangers could begin a major European campaign with two successive defeats for the sixth time, after 1963-64 (European Cup), 1996-97 (UEFA Champions League), 1997-98 (UEFA Cup), 2021-22 (UEFA Europa League), and 2022-23 (UEFA Champions League).
