Twente vs Besiktas

FC Twente have never kept a clean sheet against Turkish opposition before (W3 D1 L5), with this their first ever meeting with Besiktas.

Besiktas have lost five of their six away games against Dutch sides in all competitions, with the exception being a 2-1 win at Feyenoord in 2014-15 UEFA Champions League qualifying.

FC Twente have lost their last two home UEFA Europa League games, and are winless in six (D3 L3) since winning five in a row in 2011-12. They last lost three home major European games in a row between 1993 and 1997 in the UEFA Cup.

A win for Besiktas here will see them progress from the group/league phase of a major European competition for the first time since the 2017-18 UEFA Champions League. They last did so in the UEFA Europa League in 2014-15.

With two goals and three assists in this season’s UEFA Europa League, Rafa’s five goal involvements are the most by a Besiktas player in a single major European competition season since Cenk Tosun in the 2017-18 UEFA Champions League (6 – 4 goals, 2 assists).
