Cagliari have won both seasonal matches against Hellas Verona in Serie A for the second time in their history, and for the first since 1971/72.
For the first time under Paolo Zanetti, Hellas Verona have failed to win five games in a row (D3 L2) for the first time in Serie A, the last time was between January-February 2024 (6: D3 L3).
Leonardo Pavoletti has started a Serie A match for the first time since 30 December 2023 (vs Empoli) and has he scored as a start in the competition 499 days after the last time (16 December 2023 vs Napoli).
Cagliari won their reverse fixture against Hellas Verona 1-0 in November, though they’ve only once won both matches against the Scaligeri in Serie A in the same season, in 1971/72 – that season also marked the last time that the Sardinians beat the Gialloblù in two matches in a row in the tournament (a series of three, which began in the previous championship).
Hellas Verona failed to score in their last match against Cagliari and in their history in Serie A they’ve only gone two matches in a row without finding the net against the Sardinians - their first two encounters ever in the competition during the 1968/69 season.
Hellas Verona are unbeaten in 14 consecutive home games against Cagliari in Serie A (W9 D5) and only against one team in the competition have they gone at least 15 home games in a row without defeat - Sampdoria between 1969 and 2013 (a run of 18).
Hellas Verona are winless in four consecutive Serie A games (D3 L1) and under Paolo Zanetti they’ve never gone five consecutive league games without a win; the last time this happened was in the period between January and February 2024 (series of six: D3 L3).
After winning their first away match of 2025 (2-1 vs Monza), Cagliari have collected just three points across their next seven away games in Serie A (D3 L4), scoring just three goals in that time.
