Watford vs Derby

Watford did the league double over Derby the last time these two sides met during the 2020-21 season – they’ve never beaten the Rams in three consecutive league meetings before.

Derby have won four of their last seven away league games against Watford (L3), double the amount they had in their first 14 such visits (W2 D7 L5).

Watford have won each of their first two games to begin the 2024-25 Championship season; only in 1988-89 (first four), 1997-98 (first three), 1998-99 (first three) and 2018-19 (first four) have they won their opening three games to being a league season before.

Derby lost their opening game of the Championship season 4-2 away to Blackburn; the Rams last lost their opening two away games of a second tier season in 1995-96 (first three).

Edo Kayembe is Watford’s top goalscorer in the Championship in 2024 with five goals, whilst the midfielder has netted in back-to-back league appearances for the Hornets for the first time across the opening two games of the season.
