S. Storks
Weserstadion - Bremen
Werder Bremen lost both meetings with Holstein Kiel in Bundesliga 2 in 2021/22 (2-1 A, 3-2 H). Their only win in four meetings with the Storks since the founding of the Bundesliga came at home in September 1980 in the north group of the then second division (5-1).
Werder Bremen were the only side to fail to win a single game against the two promoted teams 1. FC Heidenheim and SV Darmstadt in the Bundesliga last term (D1, L3). Spanning multiple seasons, Werder are winless in five top-flight games against promoted sides (D1, L4), their longest run since between 2015 and 2016 (8 games back then).
Just two of Werder Bremen’s 12 points in the Bundesliga this season have come at home (17% – the lowest proportion of any side). Werder have started a top-flight campaign without a win from their first four home games for the first time since 2017/18, when they got their first victory at the Weserstadion at the sixth attempt.
Holstein Kiel’s 1-0 victory over 1. FC Heidenheim was their first ever Bundesliga win in what was their ninth game. The Storks are winless from their four top-flight away matches – of the last nine Bundesliga debutants, only 1. FC Heidenheim had to wait longer for their first away win (in their 8th game).
Only Werder Bremen are one of just two sides together with FC St. Pauli that haven’t been in the lead at all in a Bundesliga home game this season. Meanwhile, Holstein Kiel have been in front for just seven minutes on their travels, a league low.
